Hope

2025/5/12

“There is hope in Jhamtse Gatsal.”

“This community was built for hope.”

These were the words of one of the elementary school teachers at Jhamtse Gatsal.

Hearing them, I felt like I was in Star Wars—it’s the exact kind of line spoken when the rebellion dares to challenge the impossible.

He said,

“This is not an easy job. But I enjoy the challenge.”

There are differences in how quickly students learn.

He explained,

“Group study helps. They teach each other.

If one student is struggling, the others help that student.”

This is very different from a traditional school.

Some might say,

“It’s a waste of time to help those who are falling behind.”

But in this school, no one thinks that way.

Sharing knowledge has become their strength.

And through that process, knowledge transforms into wisdom.

Everyone becomes valuable in their own way.

He added,

“Some students ask questions I can’t answer.

Some go far beyond what I expect.

When that happens, I tell them: ‘Let’s find out together. I’ll join your team.’”

There is no boundary between teacher and student.

They stand on the same side.

And because of that,

there is no limit to how far they can explore the wisdom of the world.
